We’ve all got a bit too carried away and had one (...or ten) too many on a school night, meaning the only plan of action was to pull a sickie.

But surprisingly, that’s not the biggest reason your employees aren’t making it into the office.

Here are the top 3 reasons you staff are off sick...

 

1. Stress

Did you know, 1 in 6 employees experience depression, anxiety or other problems relating to stress?

In the UK, an average of 13 million working days are lost due to stress per year.

So if you weren’t already sure, you can be certain that stress and mental health affects your workforce. 

Things like heavy workloads, job security, and financial worries can all be leaving your employees feeling pretty tense.

2. Backache

Who’d have thought it?

Backache and other musculoskeletal problems are one of the top reasons your employees are staying in bed. 

In fact, it’s the largest reported reason for sick leave in the UK.

Maybe, it’s time to invest in some better chairs…

 

3. And of course, it’s got to be the common cold

Viral infections like colds and coughs are taking down your employees and leaving them calling in sick.

What can we say, maybe man flu really does exist…
